You will lose your status and all rights as a "Known Consignor" up until March 2013. A test and authorization will become compulsory for all forwarders in the air traffic from the Federal Aviation Office. A validation from your "Regulated Agent" do not fulfil the standards anymore. It is up to you to act now!

New security regulations and EU guidelines make the forwarder-line even safer. Airfreight Express Global GmbH- your "Regulated Agent" - audited your status as a "Known Consignor" in the past only for a transitional period. Starting March 2013, a test and authorization from the Federal Aviation Office will become compulsory for all forwarders.

We recommend to submit immediate a request for this approval to the Federal Aviation Office. And why just now? The Federal Aviation Office expects a lot of requests and therefore extremely long waiting times for the processing.

What alternatives do you have? There are two possibilities after the deadline:
  • You have the Certification of the Federal Aviation Office and you stay competitive.
  • Your items will be classified as send by an "Unknown Consigner" and will be checked particular by the airport X-ray check. This procedure takes a lot of time and money and depending of your commodities it could be a big effort. Anyway this means a disadvantage in your economic calculation.

The backgrounds:
The Airfreight company as your "Regulated Agent" had an important task in the past up to May 2010: your approval as a "Known Consignor" for the whole supply chain. With the coming into force of the EU ordinance 300/2008 and its implementing provisions 185/2010 changed the system - your approval as a "Known Consignor" won´t be accepted any more. You need a official authorization now for all your consignment goods.

A transitional arrangement (ending 2013-03-25) allows a "Known Consignors" to send air-freight shipments without additional control measures at the moment. The prerequisite for this arrangement is, that your "Regulated Agent" has got your signed Declaration of Security before 2010-04-28.
